In recognition of his services in the Legislative Council and
of his eminence in the legal profession, the Government conferred
on him the tittle of 'Raja.' He was also connected with various
public institutions and movements in the City.
In the early eighties of the last century he had as rivals
at the Bar such eminent lawyers as Sir V.Bashyam Iyengar and
Sir S.Subramania Iyer.
It was during his membership of the Hindu High School Committee
the northern wing if the main building was constructed.
