Raja T. Rama Rao, 1889-1904

Life Sketches Images - Raja T. Rama Rao Raja T. Rama Rao was connected with our school as Patron ande President of the Committee of Management from 1899-1904. The other members of the Committee of Management then were Sri M.A.Singarachariar, Sri M.O.Parthasarathy Iyengar, Sri M.Veeraraghavachariar and Sri M.A.Thirunarayanachariar.

Raja T.Rama Rao came of a distinguished Golkonda Vyapari family of Andhras in Madras. After graduating in Arts in 1864 and in Law in 1866, he was enrolled as a High Court Vakil in 1867 and rapidly began to build up a lucrative practice. Very soon he rose to be leader of the Bar and was nominated a Member of the Legislative Council. His activities and his counsels won the estimation of the Government and especially of the Governor of Madras, His Excellency Mr.Grant Duff.
In recognition of his services in the Legislative Council and of his eminence in the legal profession, the Government conferred on him the tittle of 'Raja.' He was also connected with various public institutions and movements in the City.

In the early eighties of the last century he had as rivals at the Bar such eminent lawyers as Sir V.Bashyam Iyengar and Sir S.Subramania Iyer.

It was during his membership of the Hindu High School Committee the northern wing if the main building was constructed.
